Sunday Reflections

Yesterday I got some bad news about my mom's health. Today I had set myself up for a big ole' pity party. What would I do? Where were we headed? How much should I tell her? How was I going to fix this? The questions were pouring in at lightening speed.Although I had prayed about this situation for some time before these last tests,I continued to feel the responsibility of "fixing" everything.

Then Exodus 20:12 came to my mind. Honor your father and your mother so that you may have a long life in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.

This alone is my responsibility! I can't fix everything. HE has the plan. Nothing I do, can add or take away one single day from her appointed time or mine. I am to continue to pray for her and trust that he will keep his word that he has a plan for her and he does not make mistakes.
I also need to remember that he does not need any help of suggestions from my finite little brain. It is so good to know that the God of yesterday, today and tomorrow is still on the throne and still in charge.

My burden lifted, I went out to search for some beauty in the world He created. I snapped a picture of these beautiful Bartlett Pear trees.Although a cold winter is ahead of them they are proudly displaying a beautiful almost neon foliage.

Like the song says, "The God of the good times is still God in the bad times.God of the days is still God in the night."
My heart still hurts, but my pity party is over.

  9. The picture os the tree is so beautiful. It is amazing how God shows us a glimmer of light when things look so dark. If we let him, that light will grow and grow until all we see is His light.

  10. When we go searching for beauty it is hard to stay inside of ourselves and celebrate our little pity parties. I had a really good one last year just about this time of year and in fact wrote a post entitled "Searching for Beauty." He is all beauty and wants to be there for us. I am so sorry about your mom's health problems but so glad you are letting Him handle it. God richly bless both of you!

  13. You took the right road to lifting some of the pain you were experiencing. My thought for you:
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will." Roman's 12:2 Take care and may there be be better days ahead for your loved one.

  15. I hope your mom is ok. Annette. We always worry about them. My mom is still very frail and is sore everywhere and all we can do is pray. The tree is gorgeous! It is a constant reminder that we have a God who can do anything....Christine

  16. I am sorry for the bad news. God is so good to encourage you. He uses music and beauty all around us.

I was thinking lately about the incredible beauty in every season in nature. It's that way in life too. Every season of life has it's own beauty if we look to God in it.

Prayers for you and your mom.
