While thrifting this fall at one of my favorite little antique malls I came across this cute little rocker.
It had lots of scratches and the paint on the back had to go but I knew what I wanted to do with it.
And besides, it looked like it needed a new home.
First it had to be sanded down. The painting on the back was very resistant but it finally came off.
Then it got several coats of white paint.
Next I made a little lavender gingham check cushion with lots of ruffles.
Finally, it was ready for its' new home but it had to wait until Christmas.
It would be one of the surprises for Grandbaby #2

The rocker is adorable painted white. Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteMy granddaughter loves her little rocker but it is red. On Christmas morning, she ran into the back room, picked it up and brought it back into the living room so she could sit in it while opening presents. She is only 21 months old but....she is serious about her rocker.
ReplyDeleteNice rocker! Ironically I was given a rocker this past week too, a solid oak one like I had when I nursed my kids. Love those chairs!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt the grand baby was glad you got it for her. A nice redo.
ReplyDeleteOh, she is such a little cutie! Looks like she is enjoying the rocker too. You did a great job in refinishing it...Christine
ReplyDeleteIs so neat how kids love a rocking chair. You've created a special memory for your granddaughter. Great job on the redo!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a sweet little rocker and looks so much better after you got done with it. I'm so glad a little bottom fits it so well!
ReplyDeleteAhhh. There is just something about a rocking chair. My parents don't have a lot of things...but when they die, I get the rocking chair. The one that my mom would rock me in and the one that my dad would sit in when he played the guitar.
ReplyDeleteNow your babes has one to make memories in too.
Back again! - missed your posts & thanking you for your lovely comment on mine and wishing you a Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat ‘N’ post!
XOXO Lola & Nora:)
What a great rocker -- and it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat a happy new home & life the rocker has now!
ReplyDeleteEvery little girl loves a rocker for her "babies." It really turned out beautifully. Love the cushion.
ReplyDeleteI have the rocker from when I was little in JDaniel's room. It is wonderful to find him sitting in it reading a book.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute and I'm sure she is really enjoying it. Love the little pillow. Sweet.
ReplyDeleteLove the little rocker and the pictures are so sweet! I have an original little family rocker that has been enjoyed by two generations now. And, I've been thinking about painting it. Just keep thinking that maybe I like all the little niks, dings and scuff marks since I know you put them there.
ReplyDeleteAaaaahhhh! It was meant to be!
ReplyDeleteLovely rocker, lovely series of photos!

Awwww. So cute.
ReplyDeleteI love repurposed items. They have their own feel, as if they brought the memories with them.

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little rocker! I love it! It looks so nice in it's new white coat of paint and it's little cushion with a skirt. It looks so loved, now! And so perfect for the precious little one.

This turned out great! Amazing what a coat of paint can due! She loves it so much that I think you might have to add a monogram! What a cutie pie she is!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet project and gift. I love to find something like that, as it gives pleasure two or three times - the search, the find, the preparation and the gift. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, oh, oh!
