Do you believe this legend or have any other beliefs or superstitions that have been passed down ?
One that comes to mind for me immediately is : Step on a crack, break your mama's back.
I can tell you that is not true. I remember after getting a much deserved spanking stepping, stomping on
the crack. (Sorry mom! I was little remember? )
Maybe this post should have been titled, Quick, get me therapy.
Thanks for stopping by. Please leave a comment... I would love to hear your superstitions.
Come on Spring!!!
I'm linking this post to Alphabe-Thursday with Jenny. Drop by her site for some fun posts
I remember a lot of superstitions but don't believe any of them. I'm sure hoping the groundhog one is true though.
ReplyDeleteI beleive in anything that will make this winter go away! So I'm hanging with Phil on this one!
ReplyDeleteThe rest of them- no.
I remember stomping the cracks after getting spankings, too! LOL
Mom said she would watch me out of the kitchen window and just laugh about it. She said it was my therapy and got the anger out quickly and then I was fine. On days, I really cared about my mom, I was so careful...and I still am, more than ever now that she's gone. It's like our inside secret.
Thanks for the smile...
Hugs- Tete
Ohpleaseohpleaseohplease! It is going down to 18 here in Tucson tonight! Phil! My little buddy! Please be right!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not too superstitious, but I really hope Phil is correct!
ReplyDeleteI;m so happy that he didn't see his shawdow today. Bring Spring On!!
ReplyDeleteAnnette,
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your blog. Can't say that I have any superstitions--certainly have heard a lot though.
Stopped by to let you know that I like your blog so much that I gave you the "Stylish Blog" Award. Just stop by my blog to pick it up.
Blessings,
Janis
I'd like to say I don't believe the legend, but every year he does see his shadow, I always sigh in defeat. Glad I didn't have to do that this year!
ReplyDeleteIf only Phil is right this year~ we've been fortunate & haven't been bombarded with snow but I'm still itching for Spring!
ReplyDeleteI am always a bit confused over the superstition of the groundhog and his shadow. Thanks for clearing it up for me :) I don't believe in superstitions a lot of the time. Every now and then, though, my paranoia gets to me and I end up believing in them :) Chinese have way too many superstitions!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know this animal, looks cute, but I am not supersticious at all.
ReplyDeleteNo not familiar with it either! Love the post & your blog however!
ReplyDeleteXOXO Lola:)
Quirky little tradition, huh....
ReplyDeleteHe should just bring spring:)
I don't pick up pennies that are upside down. I should a penny is a penny.
ReplyDeleteBring out the groundhog! I really want spring to come..
ReplyDeleteIf I hold any superstitions they are so ingrained in me I don't even recognize them as superstitions! :-D
ReplyDeleteHe is quite popular, but have to say I miss Wiarton Willie. He was our groundhog. He died.
ReplyDeleteHoping Punky Phil has it right, really looking forward to spring this year:@)
ReplyDeleteI am not big on superstitions, but I'm rooting for an early springs (20 below in the mornings out here)...
ReplyDeletePretty much my only superstition has to do with knocking wood when I say something that might tempt fate in a bad direction.
ReplyDeleteI mostly do it for fun, though. If there's no wood around, I don't worry.
;)
I cannot utter the "q" word when at work (quiet). once uttered, things go nuts.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am not into superstitions. We do have some traditions that some people might call superstitions....like eating blackeyed peas on New Year's Day. But....if I didn't, I wouldn't think something bad would happen...hah.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too superstitious. But I do remember step on a crack one and yeah, luckily she never broke her back, though she has had to have surgery....ummm, maybe it's my fault...
ReplyDeleteOh, great. Guilt!!!
The mama is full of superstitions. I have no idea which ones she makes up and which are ones adults told her as a child to keep her in line. My favorite of hers: don't travel or do anything important on the 9th. It won't go the way you want it.
ReplyDeleteDon't open your umbrella indoors - my grandmother (Irish) swore it brought a death in the family and because of that very reason I always open my brolly outside.
ReplyDeleteHi Annette...I don't believe in superstitions...usually, but walking under a ladder makes me cringe.
ReplyDeleteDebbie@lakehouse
As long as spring comes earlier, I would believe anything!
ReplyDeleteGreat entry with lovely photo. Have a wonderful weekend.
wow...
ReplyDeleteI'm not superstitious but I'm happy that so many people believe spring will be here soon. :)
ReplyDeleteDoes it work on *both* sides of the Atlantic? I have snowdrops flowering, but I'm not convinced tht spring is here yet!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that none of the critters saw a shadow - Wiarton Willy in Ontario joins Phil in saying that Spring is definitely on the way!
ReplyDeleteHi Annette! I'm not superstitious about anything, really.
ReplyDeleteThis post really made me smile, though.
The stepping on a crack is something my Granddaughters still do, and it always makes me smile.
Thanks for a fun link for Alphabe-Thursday's letter "Q".
A+
Ah! I am sooo ready for spring! (And here I am a little whiney about the "cold" temps here in Southern Georgia! haha)
ReplyDeleteStay warm!!!
Nope not superstitious either...
Blessings & Aloha!
