Separate from his creations

He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He breaks up the storm ... these are the mere edges of His ways.
Job 26:12, 14

I have always loved and adored the seashore. Even as I child I marveled at the vastness of the ocean and remember looking out into those miles and miles of water and thinking of the old song "... He's got the whole world in his hands."     ...  marveling at how huge He must be.
Now, as an adult, I continue to marvel at the beauty of His creation. It is at the seashore in the early morning sun or late evening sunset, after most of the folks have gone off to seek adventure elsewhere that I feel most at peace.
However, I must remind myself that although He created the oceans and the beautiful sunsets, God himself is not in the sunset anymore than an artist is in his paintings. While I may see reflections of the artist's in his work. The person himself is separate from it. Likewise, I see the reflections of God's personality in a sunrise or sunset but He Himself is not in either one. He is separate from His creation. This is such and important truth! It means:
When something is hurt He can heal it.
When something is wrong He can right it.
When something is broken He can mend it.

It is so good to know that nothing can deplete or weaken the the power of God or His love for me.

Playing, junking, and decorating . . .

I hope everyone is enjoying their July! We had a wonderful few days at the beach with family and friends. Those hot temps just screamed  come get in the water!

The grand babies enjoyed the magic of the ocean.

I did manage to get in some thrifting. My favorite find was a little vintage dress and photo.

I'm sorry about the quality of the photo. I really should not have shot it on a white leather sofa. Guess I kept my brain out in the sun too long.

It has sweet little pink roses on the dress and bonnet and is from the 50's. Since I am too, I just had to have it. Guess that makes us both vintage. I think the little pink vintage photo frame will be cute displayed with it.

My best thrifting deal was free. Those of you that follow my blog regularly may remember that I replaced
this brass fixture last summer. I know I'm slow but I just admitted I'm vintage, anyway. . .
I decided to see how she would look painted so  I disassembled her and put a coat of primer on.

Then I applied two coats of white Rustoleum  and took her to her new home at the condo.

She blends right in with all of the white there and you just can't beat free!

Beach time / Work time

We were at the condo the last couple of weeks and I thought I would share a little of how my time went. I of course got in as much beach time as I could. Having done enough skin damage in my younger days (there was no sunscreen then only lotion) ... for real.  I know I just dated myself.
           To make matters worse all of us tanning idiots enthusiasts fried our skin in baby oil and iodine...but I digress.

Now the old wise one, I go out really early or after 6 in the evening. Not only is it cooler, there is less crowds and one can really enjoy the natural beauty of the beach and ocean.

                                                                               

But before you think all of my time was spent in play, I did get a project I had been putting off finished.

Our condo has the standard sliding glass doors with vertical blinds. Although the blinds are a necessary evil, I have looked at them and wanted to soften the look. A couple of months ago I found some fabric at the thrift shop and you guessed it, it was my favorite color for the condo, white and itt was the right price, $5.00. I don't even know how many yards it had but I had enough to make two panels and a valance for the center. I did not want to close the curtains , just soften the blinds. I'm really pleased with how they turned out.

I have two or three yards left over. I'm sure I'll find a use for them but not just yet. Did I mention I don't particularly like to sew. I just couldn't pass up this fabric.

Myrtle Beach

I snapped this while on the beach yesterday. Temperatures registered 103, a thunderstorm

came through and dropped the temperature 25 degrees. Then it was wonderful, overcast

with a warm sea breeze blowing, paradise.

My only question is where have all the sea gulls gone?  There have been No seagulls on

the beach since May!
