OMG!.... I was in the public restroom . I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice in the other stall. "Hi How are you?"
Me: embarassed "Doin fine!"
Stall: "So, what are you up to?"
Me: "Uhhh I'm like you just sitting here."
Stall: "Can I come over?"
Me: (attitude) "No, I'm a little busy right now!!"
Stall: "Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all of my questions!"
I received this in an e-mail from a friend and it had me laughing out loud. I could so see this happening to me!
It got me to thinking. Have you noticed how phones have invaded every avenue of our lives?
I will be the first to admit... I do not leave the house without my phone but I wonder... have we gone too far? I do sometimes turn mine off making myself go into exile and it is such a
freeing feeling. What do you think? Could you give up your phones?
Reminded me of a time at work when I listened to a guy and his girlfriend talk baby talk to each other while he was in a stall. Classic stuff!

Most of the time, I never know where my phone is. It makes my husband mad when I am out and he tries to call me, and hears my phone ringing in the kitchen!

This was hysterical.....and it could so happen! I personally am not hooked on my cell, it is never even turned on, I use it for emergency only. But most of my friends, it is on the table while we are talking and eating, etc. and if it is not ringing they are always looking at it and checking it, we never ever did that we old land line phones! When they rang, we picked up! Crazy world we live in. xo,

ReplyDeleteI answer phones all day long at work! I would give it up in a minute! All I care aobut is having a phone handy in case of an emergency. Rudeness comes with cell phones and people have lost their manners! It is a sad world these days! Anne

Talking on the phone in a public bathroom is one line I just can't cross. Yuck (for everyone involved)!

ReplyDeleteI've been in the situation your story relates. For the life of me, I can't figure out why someone would want to talk on the phone with the sound of toilets flushing in the background. There are definitely some places that should be declared phone-free zones.

Never ! I feel unsecure without phone, nobody knows what could happen, getting stuck in a wood for exemple I honnestly wonder how I could live before the cell phones !

This was too funny because on my last business trip I went into a washroom stall beside a woman who was on the phone. She carried on a long and personal conversation to the accompaniment of very loud bodily sound effects. I couldn't believe it!
ReplyDeleteToo funny! Thanks for a laugh first thing this morning! My husband, who hates cell phones and only takes his half of the time, is the very first to be upset if he tries to call me and I don't answer immediately. So it gives me a little mischievous fun!
ReplyDeleteThe joke sure illustrates how our world has changed... and not for the better when it comes to cell phone etiquette! Nonetheless, millions around the world have seen tangible improvements in their lives because of cell phones... like people in villages who can now connect to family in urban centers, or farmers in developing countries who use their phones to get trading prices of the day.
