Bathroom Make Over In Progress...

While I was stuck at home dealing with my kidney stone I did get a few things accomplished. Couldn't go to the beach because a 4 hour drive was just too far from my doctor and besides if the stone decided to "show out" again I knew all of my screaming and begging for death would disturb my close- in condo neighbors.

Mr. Vintagesouthern and I  had discussed redoing his bath so now was as good a time as any.  The first thing I, he did was remove the hollywood light strip and ugly wallpaper.(I was in pain, remember.)
Then, he we painted it a creamy taupe. The color is Cafe Latte (Kiltz Brand)  and the finish is eggshell.

I decided to ride to Asheville, NC to check out their Hospice Barn. It always has the neatest things and the money goes to a good cause.

Did I ever get lucky. A lighting company had donated boxes of discontinued light fixtures. These were just $15 each. I scooped up 3 for his bath and 3 of a different style for the master bath. (That's a job for the future.)

I know she's  brass but I had plans!

Next thing was to sand it lightly, apply a coat of primer, and two coats of Rustoleum.
Finally, measure, measure and measure again to get her even over the mirror and finished!!

So..... what do you think?     The next thing on the list is to frame the mirror. Any ideas?  I'm not sure what color to go with.

Thanks for dropping by and y'all come back again real soon.

Sites I'm linking up to for partying and fun-

  5. Great job!! Lots of lights for cheap-o, that's my kind of project! What color is your bathroom vanity? I'd go with a color to compliment or match that for the framed mirror.

  9. What a MARVELOUS idea to paint that fixture! It turned out beautifully!

Thank you so much for stopping in to leave such a gracious comment on my patriotic outdoor pillows. I truly appreciate it! Thanks for passing along my link to other teachers, too. It is fun to incorporate learning opportunities into everyday activities, and I find my kiddos are so amenable to learning when I try something creative like that!

    Have a great holiday,

  11. WOW is right....I have never heard of the Hospice barn in Asheville, is it actually called that? We went to some huge barn it was a cold rainy day,in November we where in Asheville, and we spent a good amount of time there..Well your lights turned out beautiful! I am thinking white molding around the mirrors....you have white trim everywhere, and I do not think I would try to match the lights...unless you did the same exact color of the lights. Thanks for linking up to my party, so glad you did! Have a great weekend.

  13. Thanks for all of your gracious comments. In response to several questions about the paint color I am drawing a blank but will check and post when I get home.

Debbie, the store where I found the lights is the Hospice Barn. It is actually on my way to Asheville at the Landrum, S C exit right off of 1-26.

My computer and e-mail has lost it's mind, hence the common post.
    Happy 4th y'all! Annette

  18. Oh my, what a great deal you found. I have been pricing new lighting for our bathroom. Needless to say, the prices have been a lot higher than $15.00.

Hope you are feeling better. Kidney stones are miserable.
