Show and tell Friday

I'm participating in show and tell at Cindy's Romantichome. I picked up a few goodies this week.

Mr.Vintagesouthernlife and I decided to go for a picnic... at least that was my original story and I'm sticking to it. We ended up at a neat little antique shop in Tryon, N.C. Unfortunately, I didn't bring along the camera so I must go back.

I picked up this serving tray that will be great for the coffee table since no one ever seems to bother with a coaster.

Amish country part 2...

Another view of the bed and breakfast. It is so quiet and peaceful there. This is the common kitchen where everyone meets for breakfast. Not your typical continental breakfast mind you... It starts with coffee, juice, fruit cups and continues with a main dish breakfast casserole and always a variety of fruit breads.
Conversations, Amish tradition and stories of current happenings told by visiting Amish neighbors often turn into a two hour breakfast... no one wanting to leave and miss anything.

Spring Fever

The beautiful weather we have been having has me dreaming of traveling and seeing the country. This is a picture from a wonderful little bed and breakfast we visited in Pennsylvania. It is named Frog Town Acres and although decorated in Amish style has a cute little frog theme going on.
It is located in the heart of Amish country and neighboring Amish drop by for a visit at breakfast each day.It is fascinating to hear their stories of their lives and day to day experiences.

Thrift shop find

You just never know what your're going to turn up when you drop into the thrifts shops. This winter I began my search for furniture to furnish our little beach condo. I had searched laboriously on the net for decorating ideas and inspiration pictures so I knew the all white cottage look was for me. When I spotted this china hutch I knew she would be perfect, although she was a yucky yellow.

Mr Vintagesouthernlife and I sanded and repainted her white and she now has a new home in the condo. I will post pictures as soon as I get her stuffed with goodies.
